I love everything about this place. It’s got a cool vibe to it when you enter the reception area and invites you to hang out there and chat to people from all over the world. South Lake Tahoe has loads of accommodation to offer, but I have yet to find a place with that same look and feel to it. You can choose from various room types, starting with the hostel-like Explorers Club Rooms, to regular King Rooms and a stunning Great Indoors Room. Check it out here. I stayed in a King Balcony Room and already felt like an explorer, only just stepping through the door.

Here just a few of my impressions:

This place offers a shared rooftop hot tub, fire pits to mingle while roasting s’mores, an intimate bar and breakfast to start your day, including “do-it-yourself-waffles” and of course coffee. Their location is in a typical “hotel/motel area”, and with all its charm, it doesn’t matter that you can’t see the lake right in front of you – it’s within walking distance though. As is Heavenly Village, where you can hop on the Gondola to Heavenly Ski Resort, do some shopping or go see a movie. Hard Rock Casino is also in close proximity, should you wish to go gamble.

If you want to book activities or have other questions, their staff is willingly going to help you where they can. Want to know where you can get a nice dinner – they know. Want to know what Bike trails there are – they know. Want to talk to someone about your exciting experiences – they’ll gladly listen. As far as I’m concerned, this is a very hospitable hotel and they’re not bragging about it. Which is why I’m doing just that.

I had mixed feelings about staying there first, because I had read a few bad reviews online, but seriously, just like most of my former experiences in the travel industry, you’ll always get the few people who are looking for stuff to complain about. However – I did not find the slightest thing I’d want them to change and cannot wait to go back, hopefully soon.

Please go and have a look at their Gallery and then make sure to book your stay there. You won’t regret it.
